Dimensions: 9 inches tall x 6 inches wide
The history: Stoneware jugs, also referred to as liquor crocks or jugs, whiskey jugs, and shoulder jugs, predate the mason jars and other modern containers that replaced them. While they weren’t used exclusively for the consumption of “spirits”, the image of a mountain man, pioneer, or other early frontier inhabitant taking a drink from a stoneware shoulder jug is certainly an American cliché, if not icon.
Picture it: displayed on a shelf as a vase for different florals and / or holly and evergreen pieces.
FYI: This piece is in excellent vintage condition. Two-tone colors. There is one chip and some scratches, discoloration, and scuffing that is expected with a piece this old.
